Mount Elbrus is the highest peak in Europe, standing at 5,642 meters (18,510 feet) above sea level. Located in the Caucasus Mountains of southern Russia, Elbrus is a dormant volcanic mountain with two summits, the western summit being the highest. It is a popular destination for mountaineers and trekkers, offering a relatively non-technical climb compared to other high mountains. Elbrus is part of the Seven Summits, a collection of the highest mountains on each of the seven continents. The mountain's glaciers and snow-covered slopes make it a striking and challenging climb, though the ascent is often aided by ski lifts to higher altitudes.
